Lust List + Survival

The list of things I am lusting after is long and varied, but these three are right up there.

Lilly Pulitzer Elias                              Kate Spade Caelyn

                        Elva Fields Unabashedly Feminine Necklace

Two things that have gotten me through this week and I'm not quite sure how I ever survived without them:

Isle of Luxe Body Polish in Vanilla

                                            GHD Straightener

What are the things you're lusting after and/or loving this week?

Like Glitter's Raining On Me...Oh oh oh OH

Wow, I'm really blowing it out of the water on that whole "blog regularly" goal, huh? But, there's still a week left in the month for me to attempt to semi-redeem myself.

Today? Well, today is not that day.

Today we talk about how it's the perfect day for dancing around the office to this:

I do have lots of great upcoming plans for le olde blog, though. So stay tuned.

Normal Things That Annoy Me

I'm still caffeine free, which means I'm still somewhat grumpy.

That pretty much sums up my week and brings us to today. Friday. Time for the Friday Five. (Do you love how I correlate numbers to certain days of the week? It's a gift.)

A little cranky? Yes. A little snarky? Always.

Normal things that annoy me. Enjoy.

- Obnoxiously Loud Food Noises. Yes, some foods crunch. That doesn't mean you need to be smacking like a cow chewing it's cud. (Same goes for slurping through a straw. Clearly the drinking receptacle you're trying to sip out of is empty. Either refill it or stop slurping.)

- Automated Customer Service Options. What ever happened to pressing "0" for customer service? It got the job done. Screaming "CUSTOMER SERVICE!" seventeen times is not my idea of a good time. If there's any background noise, you might as well forget it. Just abandon all hope of ever reaching the department you need.

- Overzealous Perfume Sprayers. I wear my own perfume. Perfume that I have picked out and enjoy. I do not desire to be hosed down with whatever stank you're offering up. One day I'm just going to grab the perfume and spray it on them and ask them how they like it. Rude.

- Your/You're, Their/They're/There, Who's/Whose. It's basic grammar. If you're over the age of 10 you should know it. If you don't, you can pretty much assume I want to donkey kick you in the shin.

- Taking Forever to Order at Chik-Fil-A.  It's Chik-Fil-A. They have chicken and chicken. Do you want it between a bun or in nugget form? Those are your options. If it's an extremely tough day, you may have to decide if you want the two crucial pickles, but even that should be a two second decision at most. Order your chicken and move on. You're making the rest of us angry.

So tell me, lovelies. What are the everyday normal things that annoy you?

The Tuesday Two

I've cut out all forms of caffeine, and let me tell you: life ain't all that grand this week. I'm grumpy. Really grumpy. So what do I do? I take to the blog to complain. But since it's Tuesday, I'm going to keep it to just two things. Why? I don't know. Because Tuesday and Two go well together. That's why. You're welcome.

::Begin Rant::

1) Alabama won the National Championship. Again. This makes 9 or so, but they claim 14. And they claim them loudly (read: obnoxiously). Living in Alabama means the last three years of my life have been dominated by Alabama winning, Alabama complaining that Auburn won, and now, Alabama winning. I have nothing against the school, the football team, or even Alabama alum. But the "average" Alabama fan makes it impossible to want to see the team succeed. They are unbearable. Row Tahd.

2) I really just cannot take some of these people in blog / Twitter land seriously. Who...WHO...stands around looking all cute in front of tattered old barns and in quaint fields of daisies? WHO DOES THIS?! Whose life is this? No one. It's no ones life. Do you really think you're fooling us all with your gaze-y eyes and your ever-so-slightly pursed lips? Reality is I'm a hot mess 75% of the time because, you know, life happens. You over-schedule yourself or you forget something or wake up late. Yes, I know I don't have to read your stuff (and believe me, when I start to figure out this is what you're doing, I stop reading), but that doesn't mean I don't think you're full o' crap.

::End Rant::

In other news, today is the day I catch up on my blog reading / commenting on the awesome blogs (not those from #2 above). I promise to keep my snarkiness to a minimum.

What are your gripes of the day / week / month / year? I want to hear 'em.

'Tis the Season for Goals

Anyone who knows me or follows me on Twitter knows how much a love a Monday. It's a fresh start to the week, a clean slate, another chance to get it all right.

So what's better than a regular ol' Monday? JANUARY. It's a whole new year to make it what you want it to be.

I'm not a big resolutioner. I feel like having the typical New Year Resolutions just sets you up for failure and you end up feeling worse than you did before you started them. If I do the whole resolution thing, it's something completely attainable (and sometimes a little ridiculous) like clean out my DVR every week.

This year, I'm all about changes. I feel that 2012 is going to be one of the best years I've had in a long time...maybe ever. The past two years have been tough to say the least. I have lived through things I never would have thought I was capable of, and I have discovered something within myself that I never knew was there. I was beaten down, I was broken, and so many times I didn't know what I was going to do. But this year is different. This year is about me...about realizing that I DESERVE to have a good life. This year is all about changing my life, and I'm doing it one day, one week, one month at a time.

I am a huge believer that writing goals down puts you a step closer to achieving them. I already had my goals written in my planner, but I'm taking a cue from my girl over at JGIWC and putting them out there for the world to see.

  1. Blog - I have been such a terrible blogger the past few months. It's time for that to change.
  2. No Ponytails - Low side pony, messy pony...I have gotten into the worst habit of throwing my hair back almost daily. I'm making it a goal this month to not pull my hair back unless I'm at home.
  3. Wake Up 30 Minutes Earlier - I typically go into the office at 7:30, which means I leave no later than 7. My goal is to wake up at 5:30 so that I'm not so rushed. When I wake up at 6, I barely have time to shower and get ready (hence the daily pony), much less get ready to the degree that I want to. And I can forget about having time to get something together for lunch. It's only 30 minutes, but honestly, 30 minutes that early in the morning...it's tough. But I'm determined to do it. When I start out the morning feeling rushed, it sets the tone for the whole day, and not in a good way.
  4. Join A Book Club - I have been wanting to do this for so long. There are several I know of around town, and it's time to find one and settle in.
  5. No Fast Food - Because I am so rushed in the morning, I rarely have time to make something to take for lunch (even grabbing it out of the fridge goes to the wayside most mornings). Cue fast food. It's unhealthy, it's expensive, and it makes me feel like crap. This month that stops - not just for lunch, but period. And this includes my beloved Jimmy Johns delivery.
  6. BJCC 4x / Week - I've joined the Jewish Community Center here in town for their amazing fitness center and my goal is to get there at least four times week, whether it's to use the gym, take a class, or play tennis. To be there and be working out in some form a minimum of four times a week is my goal to set the tone for the remainder of the year.
  7. Find the Perfect Work Out Shoes - This is on tomorrow's agenda. I have been using just regular New Balance and they're killing me. It's time to get some shoes designed for working out. Plus, awesome shoes are more likely to make me want to put them on and work out, right?

As you can see, they're all pretty attainable goals. I'm going to do this each month and report back at the end of the month how it went.

What are your goals for January (or resolutions for the new year)?

Happy New Year!

2011 was not kind to me. At all. So to it I say, Good Riddance.

Bring what ya got, 2012. I'm ready.
