It's May

It's May. We're almost to the half-way point of the year, and I haven't accomplished nearly anything I set out to do this year.

It's May. The end of this month will be two years since I watched doctors and nurses try to bring my daddy back, unsuccessfully.

It's May. Let the acceptable floppy hat season commence.

It's May. Summer is a'comin'. As evidenced by today's 90+ degree temps and humidity that will only increase as the month progresses. (Consider this your warning that I will be complaining. I am not a fan of summer in any way, shape, or form.)

It's May. Mother's Day in less than two weeks. It's a hard day for those who have lost their mother. It's also a hard day for those of us who have estranged relationships with our mothers. The good news? There's vodka and chocolate to help make it through.

It's May. Derby time. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love good, Southern traditions like the Kentucky Derby. I'm sad that I'm not going this year, but you can be sure there will be a Kentucky Derby post coming your way this week.

It's May. One month closer to college football. Only three months, four weeks, and one day to go (as of this post).

It's May. A new month. A new beginning. A new chance to get it right again.

What do you have going on this month? What are you / are you not looking forward to this month?

  1. Ugh, feel you on the dad thing - May is one month closer to Fathers' Day which, fail/sads/crying/vodka and chocolate/ etc.

May for me means I'm working Memorial Day, visiting my awkward-est cousin of all for her college graduation (blog posts to come..), and HOPEFULLY get a new intern.

On the "happy" end of the spectrum, I'm closer to Zummer Part 2 (aka Princess Z comes to play all summer)

  2. Wasn't New Year's just last week? Hard to believe we're already into May. Then again judging by today's unruly heat it's hard to believe we're not really in August. Dear Lord, we're all going to melt before Labor Day.

My birthday is this Sunday so I'm definitely looking forward to that in addition to a beach trip at the end of the month. Yay!

Sending you big hugs on Mother's Day, sweet friend.

  3. Pretty sure you read my mind and posted my thoughts to your blog. My dad is in the process of dying. And I will toast one of many beverges to you on Mother's Day as I navigate the minefield that is my own relationship with my mother. Thank you for keeping it real, like always.

  4. I can't beleive we are into May. How did that happen? I have not accomplished much this year either.
One year I will go to the Derby when I am not to old to enjoy it.
