Friday Five: That Time It Was My 30th Birthday

Today, I enter the third decade of my life. I've spent the better part of the year dreading it, but now that it's here, I could not be more ready.

I had plans of posts leading up to today (much like I had those Christmas posts planned...), but this past week has been so crazy, I haven't had the time. I'll be doing those this coming week. It's my blog and my 30 and I can post when I want to, right?

I had the most amazing massage of my life Tuesday. I've had many massages in many different spas, but Veronica at Ross Bridge gave me the best 75 minutes of my life. She then told me that Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are 20% off for locals. Guess who's budget just got a "spa day" column.

I ate cake for breakfast this morning. It's my birthday. I can if I want.

It's not even 9:00am and I have received more texts and Twitter messages than I could have ever imagined. Thank you all for your birthday wishes! It makes 30 so much more special knowing I have found fabulous friends like you via social media.

Missing: Christmas Posts

An unplanned three week hiatus. How's that for blogging success?

I had grand plans of Christmas posts galore...shopping guides, menus, and whatnot. I'm not sure what happened, other than life.

The Christmas season has always been my favorite time of the year - the smells, the lights, the general cheerfulness of most people. But this year I just haven't been able to really get into it. 2011 brought a lot of tough life changes - some voluntarily and some thrust upon me, unwanted. But it is what it is, and I'm just trying to find my way through.

That said, there are no words for how ready I am for 2012. A new year, a new decade of my life, a new beginning.

I may attempt to sneak one or two Christmas related posts in before Sunday. You know, so I'm not a total grinch.

Have you been blogging about Christmas?

December, December

It's December, so what better topic for a Friday Five than five reasons I'm loving December?!

Birthday Month - Birthdays haven't ever really been a big deal for me. Having one so close to Christmas and New Year's Eve has always meant everyone is out of town / out of money, so (even growing up) I've never had a birthday party or really ever celebrated. This one is a little bit of a bigger deal (at least in my head). This is officially the last month of the twenties. Eep!

Holiday Season - Whether you celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah,  'tis the season!

Wrapping Up 2011 - Thank. Goodness. I cannot take any more of it. I'm done. Completely over it. This year...(or really, the past 18 months)...has been the most difficult of my life. I'm just pushing through until the end, and then I'm embracing 2012 (and 30!) with open arms and a renewed spirit.

Embarking on 2012 - Good Riddance, 2011. (See above.)

SEC Championship Game - GO DAWGS!
