Happy Memorial Day!

Today, while you're out on the lake or cooking out with family and friends, celebrating the "official" start of summer, don't forget to remember what it's all about.

It's a time to remember the men and women who have died fighting for our freedom - to remember the sacrifices they've made for us. Take the time today to say a prayer for the families who have lost loved ones, and to thank those fighting for us today for their sacrifice.

Have You Heard??

My dear friend, Kori Donahue, has published her first book Murder on the Boulevard!! And to celebrate the release of the paperback, I'm partnering with Kori to give away a copy to one lucky reader!

Bobbi had always wanted to find Mr. Right. But, as a young, independent woman in her late 20's, Hollywood was probably not the right place to find him, especially in the 1950's. Just when she thinks she's found her Prince Charming, she gets involved in something sinister. Bodies are appearing all over town, and if she doesn't figure it out, she'll be the next murder victim...on the Boulevard.

The Amazon Customer Reviews are all fabulous. This is a must-have edition to your summer reading list!

Little Things That I'm Over

I can't hold it in any longer. I've tried, and I've failed. Some things have been really annoying me lately, and it's time for me to vent.

Star Jones - This lady gets on my last nerve. Her attitude, her demeanor, her voice. Everything about her is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

"Sorry I'm not sorry" - I get that it's a cute phrase and all, but it's being *slightly* over used. Can we all just agree that we're sorry we're not sorry, and move on from this?

Walkie-Talkie Phones - They're annoying. 'Nuff said.

"Help me get to x number of followers" on Twitter - I'm not quite sure why you're so caught up in the number of followers you have, but I can assure you that if all you are tweeting are pleas to help you get more followers, people are not going to find you very interesting. Plus, it's clogging up everyone's feed and it's super annoying.

Rude People - I just don't understand why it's necessary to be rude to someone. What makes you feel like they are so beneath you that you have to belittle them? Try being nice. You never know what kind of day someone is having, or what is going on in their life and a little smile and niceness may have a huge impact on them.

Negative Nellies - I am in no way Miss Susie Sunshine, but come on. Is it *really* necessary to be negative about every little thing, all the time? It's a huge downer for those around you. Plus, it doesn't really make you look like a pleasant person to want to be around.

Constant Complaining - Sure, we all complain about things, but there are some people who do this ALL the time. It's like they just aren't happy unless they are complaining about something...anything. Stop it! If you don't like what life has handed you, do something to change it instead of just sitting around complaining about it.

Corporate Speak - Coming down the pike. Circling the wagons. Keep our ducks in a row. Stay in the loop. All of the cliches are driving me up the wall. Surely there are other ways to get your point across, no?

Monday Musings

...I'm still trying to master the art of drinking out of my Camelbak. And no, it's not new. I've used Camelbak's for a while now, and still have problems. Stop judging me.

...The City has a Smart Car that patrols around the Five Points area and it is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. This is it parked on the sidewalk...yes, PARKED ON THE SIDEWALK. Wouldn't this just make you feel so safe? I guess it could be worse. The north side of the city over by the convention center has police officers on Segways.

...I am convinced that The Original Pancake House puts crack in their food. Every time I eat breakfast there, I think about it for days afterward. This French toast was so amazing, I'm pretty sure it's illegal in at least 17 states.

...If you're in the Birmingham area, California Pizza Kitchen at The Summit and The Galleria will be donating 100% of sales between now and Thursday to the Alabama Tornado Relief Fund. You should go.

...I finally broke down and went to the orthopedist about my ankle. Turns out I've been walking around on a torn tendon for the past three months. I'm in a boot for 6 weeks and then I'll go back to see if I'm going to need surgery. How does one tear a tendon and have no recollection of it? I'm still trying to figure it out.

...I'm addicted to Burt's Bees Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil. It's delightful for the lips *and* the nose.
